Cyberpunk 2077 developer CD Projekt Red announced last week that its Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 versions of the game had been delayed until 2022. On Thursday, the developer updated its development roadmap — first published in January — with a more detailed look at the delay, showing there are no more expected updates for 2021.

Next-gen updates for both The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt and Cyberpunk 2077 are impacted by the delay, which is currently scheduled for the first quarter of 2022, according to the roadmap. Other “updates, improvements, and free DLC” are expected during that period and beyond.

Cyberpunk 2077 was originally released on Dec. 10, 2020. Its launch did not go well by any means. The game turned out to be so buggy that both Sony and Microsoft were forced to accept all refunds; Sony ended up removing Cyberpunk 2077 entirely from the PlayStation Store. (The game has since been added back onto that platform.)

The developer has released more than 10 patches since Cyberpunk 2077’s troubled launch, which squash many of the game’s bugs. CD Projekt Red had originally promised that “multiple updates and improvements,” including the free DLC and next-gen console update following patch 1.3 in the remaining months of 2021. Patch 1.3 was released in August with some of that free DLC, in the form of quest options, animations, and additional cosmetic items. More of that free DLC is expected in 2022, delayed so the developer can focus on more pressing quality-of-life improvements.

More information about the new DLC is expected “in the coming months,” after the “most important fixes and updates” have been addressed.
